SECURITY SITUATION

According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, Macedonian government in today’s session probably will discus about NATO’s demand to deploy another 14.000 soldiers in Macedonian soil. According to this daily newspaper probably the government will agree with that, because these forces are peaceful.

 

NUMBER OF REFUGEES

According to the Ministry of Interior (MVR), in the last 24 hours, 658 refugees entered Macedonia. Also 315 illegal entries were registered. The total number of refugees in Macedonia now is 271.879, while 144.127 of them have the status of humanitarian cared people. 97.752 refugees have been settled in camps, most of them in camp Cegrane - 41.855, then came Stenkovec 1 and 2 with 31.665 refugees, Senokos - 7.027, Neprosteno - 7.226, Bojane - 2.399 and Radusa has 2.510 refugees.

Yesterday, 847 refugees were transferred to third countries using airlift. Up to now, 75.721 refugees left Macedonia using airlift.

 

CAMPS

According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, the health situation of refugees is stabile and and there are no bigger problems. There are no epidemics of contagious diseases. New refugees that came in camps are regularly vaccinated. The number of refugees settled in families in Skopje, and which have been vaccinated is very small. Because of that the agitation will be intensified.

 

SUPPORT

According to the daily newspaper Makedonija Denes, every day about 20 refugees call in the phone number (114-355) of Red Cross of Macedonia for lost people, trying to find their family members, which they lost during the flee from Kosovo. In the latest report of Red Cross of Macedonia is stressed that in Macedonia, until now, 1.282 families have made requests for uniting with other members of their families and 377 families have been united, while 112 requests are still reviewed.

The Center for social initiatives, "Nadez" ("Hope") with seat in Suto Orizari, Skopje as e representative of HO "Caritas" from Germany, these days is working intensively for helping kosovar refugees. They provide help for about 3.600 refugees, most of them Gypsies.

According to the daily newspaper Flaka, HO "Mother Teresa" from Struga, in Saturday distributed considerable humanitarian aid for refugees settled in some villages of region of Derven.
