SECURITY SITUATION

The president of the United States of America Bill Clinton, today will came in one-day visit in Macedonia. He will visit refugees in the camp Stenkovec, and also met Albanian president Rexhep Mejdani.

 

THE NUMBER OF REFUGEES

According to the UNHCR, until yesterday about 50.000 refugees left Macedonia and went to Kosovo. During the day before yesterday, 7.949 refugees left Macedonia from the borderland of Jazince, then 5.268 from borderland Bllace and 367 from borderland Tabanovce. Up to now 87.926 refugees have been transferred to third countries using airlift. According to the yesterday’s information 199.300 refugees are still in Macedonia, while 88.700 are settled in camps.

CAMPS

According to the daily newspaper Vecer, the Ministry of ecology and the Ministry urbanism and construction in cooperation with UNHCR had agreed that primarily should be transferred refugees from Bojane and Radusha camps, because these camps are located in the first protected zone of the spring Rasce and they present direct danger for the drinkable water.

 

SUPPORT

According to the daily newspaper Fakti, H.O. "El hilal", is helping with humanitarian aid in Kosovo. The secretary of this organization, Bejxudin Shehabi, during the weekend this organization has sent tow trucks with food and clothes, while yesterday another truck went to Kosovo. These activities are realized in cooperation with German humanitarian organization "Johaniter".

According to the daily newspaper Fakti, H.O. "Mother Teresa" from Struga, yesterday sent to Kosovo nine transporters with about 190 tons humanitarian aid.

According to the daily newspaper Fakti, H.O "The action against hungry", with seat in London is helping about 34.000 refugees that are settled in families around Macedonia with food.

According to the daily newspaper Fakti, the Danish council for refugees (DRC), is realizing a project in Tetovo and Gostivar for repairs in the houses where the refugees are settled such are: repairs of sanitary means, electrical installations, braked windows etc.
