SECURITY SITUATION
The Macedonian Prime minister, Ljubco Georgievski, met with the administrator of the Development Program of United Nations, Mark Brown. He informed his guest about losses and consequences of Republic of Macedonia from the Kosovo war and refugee crisis, and he stressed the opinion that international community should compensate these losses. On the other side, Mark Brown gave full support to the Development Program of Republic of Macedonia.
NUMBER OF REFUGEES
According to the Immigration bureau of Ministry of Interior (MVR), the number of unregistered kosovar refugees is decreasing. Is assumed that, at this moment, in Macedonia, illegally are staying about 9.000 kosovar refugees. In MVR are saying that kosovars who are still in Macedonia, will have the status of humanitarian assisted person until September the 28th, and it’s still unknown, is this status gonna be continued, although, probably, this opportunity would be used just by those refugees who will stay in Macedonia during the winter. About returning of kosovar refugees from third countries through Macedonia, in the Immigration bureau are decided that this must be only for those people, who were formerly evacuated from Macedonia and who voluntary want to go back to Kosovo.
CAMPS
According to the daily newspaper Flaka, about 3.700 refugees are settled in camp Cegrane, mostly people and families, who, either have no place to go back, because their houses are destroyed, or those who are still waiting and hoping that would be transferred to third countries. But, Ron Henderson, chief of Press center of HO "CARE", said that the process of transferring refugees to third countries, is definitely closed.
SUPPORT
According to the official statistics, there were 33.178 refugee pupils in Republic of Macedonia, while 1.237 of them were pre-elementary school pupils, 27.769 elementary school pupils and 4.172 were secondary school pupils.
The head of Islamic community of Kosovo, Dr Rexhep Boja, sent a thanks letter to the head of Islamic community of Macedonia (ICM), Haxhi Sulejman Efendi Rexhepi, where he expressed thanks for brotherhood contribute, which ICM, its organs and members, gave during the settle and humanitarian care of kosovar refugees.
