SECURITY SITUATION
Yesterday about 4.000 refugees protested in camp Stenkovec, because policy arrested a refugee, who wanted to escape illegally from camp. The protest ended with no incidents, although the situation was tensed.
In Sunday night, about 20:30 o’clock French soldiers in Kumanovo were attacked. Soldiers heard two different explosions, that were supposed to be missiles. The NATO spokesman in Macedonia, in yesterday’s press-conference said that in the future soldiers will return with all weapons they have.
NUMBER OF REFUGEES
According to Operative stuff of Ministry of Interior (MVR), yesterday until 15 o’clock, from airport "Skopje", 979 refugees left Macedonia. Until the end of the day, more ten flights were planed. Since April 5, when airlift was established, 43.504 have been transferred to third countries. According to MVR, in the last 24 hours, 179 kosovar refugees entered Macedonia, while just 17 of them had legal passports. 238.021 have been registered in Macedonia, while 93.101 of them are settled in camps and 114.920 in families.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, in Tetovo and its environs, including camp in Neprosteno (6.030 refugees), 55.000 refugees have been settled.
CAMPS
The vaccination of refugee children up to 4 years old in camps was finished yesterday. Last children were vaccinated in camp Cegrane, where about 3.000 refugee children have been vaccinated. Today will began vaccination of refugee children settled in families.
According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, in camps, particularly in Cegrane, there is no sufficient drinkable water and also water for hygiene. Up to now, just few cases of dearea were registered and about thirty cases of tuberculosis, but there are still no epidemics.
According to Vecer, in camps Stenkovec 1 and 2, in just one tent about 50 refugees are settled. Most of refugees don’t have blankets.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, the camp in Senokose is extended and now there should be pitched tents, which will be provided by UNHCR.
SUPPORT
Building of refugee camps cost Macedonian government about 11 million German marks, while UNHCR, even that they said they will pay building of camps, gave just 100.000 US dollars. Every day refugee camps cost Macedonian government about 190.000 German marks.
Yesterday UNHCR gave 800.000 German marks to the Macedonian Ministry of health to compensate the support that this Ministry is giving to the refugees.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, France, up to now, gave 165 million US dollars to Albania and Macedonia as humanitarian aid.
