SECURITY SITUATION

Until yesterday afternoon, in the fifth day of talking between the members of NATO and Yugoslav army in Kumanovo the military and technical agreement was not signed, but optimists expect this to be done at any moment. There where some cessation’s during the marathon talks, while in the afternoon hours a part of Yugoslav delegation with general Svetozar Marjanoviq in head, again left the airport, for consulting, but the cessation was not officially gave.

 

NUMBER OF REFUGEES

According to the Ministry of Interior (MVR), in the last 24 hours, 173 refugees entered Macedonia, 158 from the borderland Tabanovce and 3 from Bllace. 12 refugees had entered Macedonia illegally. The total number of refugees in Macedonia is now 273.775, while 152.342 of them have the status of humanitarian assisted people. Most of the refugees are hosted in families in Skopje, than in Tetovo, Gostivar, Struga, Debar, Kumanovo, Kicevo. 98.430 refugees are settled in camps, mostly in camp Cegrane - 40.424.

Yesterday, 1.560 refugees were transferred to third countries using airlift. Up to now, 85.016 refugees left Macedonia using airlift. They were transferred to Austria, England, Turkey, Germany, Australia, USA and Slovenia.

 

CAMPS

According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik the day before yesterday in camp Stenkovec 2 was organized protest in which participated about one hundred refugee kids from 5 to 10 years old. Arsim Shabani (26) the kosovar refugee was organizer of this protest. They acclimated slogans like " UÇK, NATO, we gave our life’s, but not Kosovo". The UNHCR told the organizer not to organize such protest again, and they also said that there’s nothing to be done with problematic refugees.

The Egyptian organizations yesterday send a protest paper to the public opinion, in which in severely manner they condemn the Saturday vandal act. Amdi Bajrami, the deputy in parliament, declare that if return of Egyptian refugees is not safe there might be another war in the Balkans. If nobody protect the Egyptians, they will defend themselves with arms. Also, next week he will went to visit Milosheviq, and he will talk for safe return of Egyptian refugees in Kosovo.

 

SUPPORT

The Defense minister Nikola Kljusev, in yesterdays meeting of parliament commission declare that all refugees has to go back in Kosovo, but just throughout the humanitarian organizations. This is a categorical attitude of Government and we told this to NATO and Member State. The refugees will not be allowed to decide if they will stay in Macedonia or went back to Kosovo.

The factory "Blagoj Gjorev" from Veles and humanitarian organization "CARE" from Australia yesterday signed an agreement, a part of productivity to be used, for furnishing only the refugees settled in Macedonia.
