SECURITY SITUATION

The Yugoslav army yesterday and Saturday had made a classic attack against Macedonia, which is not an occasional or unwished incident. From Yugoslav territory 36 hand grenades had been launched, so as a result two houses, stable and a car were damaged. Saturday morning two villages Malino and Tanushevci also had been grenaded. The grenades were lunched, four and a half kilometer from the inside of territory of Yugoslavia. According to the minister of Defense Pavle Trajanov there has been no reasons Macedonia to be attached. He did not connect the attack with the entering of 250 kosovar refugees of from the border. They are not the members of KLA, but they have been taken in the police station for talks.

NUMBER OF REFUGEES

According to the Ministry of Interior (MVR), in the last 24 hours, 529 refugees entered Macedonia, 70 in the border Jazhince and 21 from Tabanovce. 394 refugees had entered Macedonia in illegal way. The total number of refugees in Macedonia now is 276.360, while 150.715 of them have the status of humanitarian cared people. Most of refugees, 51.715 are settled in Skopje, then about 50.000 in Tetovo, 20.616 in Gostivar, in Struga 3.673. 99.645 refugees have been settled in camps. The number of refugees in camps is following: in camp Cegrane - 40.476, in Stenkovec 1 and 2 - 38.279 refugees, in Neprosteno - 7.280, in Senokos - 6.863, in Bojane - 2.820 and in Radusa - 2.021 refugees.

Yesterday, 448 refugees were transferred to third countries using airlift. Up to now, 82.607 refugees left Macedonia using airlift.

CAMPS

According to the daily newspaper Fakti the Ministry for town planning and building had present an information in which is said that all the objects that have been built without permission will be condemn. It’s about the stores around the camps. This problem has been discussed in the government meeting in may 13, and they decided not to allowed building without permits.

SUPPORT

According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, the Bulgarian Red cross until now offered aid for the kosovar refugees in amount of 136.000 DM, in child food, medicaments, spinach conserve and cloth, said the represent of this organization in Skopje. The Bulgarian Red Cross is attendance for Radusha camp.

The high commissioner for refugees Sadako Ogata had admonition the using of the best computer technology for identifying refugees. Nil Wright, the coordinator of UNHCR for Macedonia and Albania, said that data would help not just for returning of refugees but also for returning the property.

In the Debar commune had began the distribution of humanitarian aid from H.O. "Intesas" for 118 debar families with low living standard. This aid is consisting of food and sanitation means.
