SECURITY SITUATION
Macedonian authorities strongly are disproving declarations that northern border is closed, but also they are saying that in Macedonia will enter so refugees as many will leave the country. The Minister of defense, Nikola Kljusev, said that Macedonian humanity shouldn’t be transformed in to self-destruction. On the other side, UNHCR spokesman in Macedonia, Paula Gedhini is claiming that Macedonia yesterday at 17 o’clock closed its border with FR Yugoslavia, and pushed back to Serbia thousands of refugees. She also said that she would send a protest note to the Macedonian Ministry of foreign affairs.
According to newspapers Flaka and Fakti, calling to Reuters, yesterday the borderland Bllace has been closed and about 3.000 refugees couldn’t enter Macedonia.
Macedonian government, again harshly attacked international community for unresponsible treating of refugees, saying that if Bllace hapends again, UNHCR will be responsible for that.
NUMBER OF REFUGEES
According to information of Operative stuff of Ministry of Interior, yesterday in borderland Bllace until 15 o’clock, came just 35 refugees, while at the other borderlands there was no refugees at all.
Officially, in two camps Stenkovec 1 and 2, according to UNHCR, about 50.000 refugees have been settled, but freely estimating, the number of refugees in those camps is much more. In Cegrane 33.000 refugees have been settled. According to UNHCR, up to now, 28.000 refugees have left Macedonia.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, in the briefing in Geneva, UNHCR spokesman, Chris Ianowski said that the plan for transferring about 60.000 refugees from Macedonia to Albania was stopped because of political and logistical problems.
The day before yesterday, 1.956 refugees have been transferred to third countries using airlift.
CAMPS
According to the security stuff of MVR, in camp Stenkovec has not been registered cases of drug dealers, drug addicts or prostitution. Also the health condition of refugees in Stenkovec is good.
According to the head of camp Radusa, Hetem Ramadani, the conditions of life in this camp as days goes by are getting better and better.
SUPPORT
According to the information taken from officials in airport "Skopje", yesterday morning 5.000 cans with food arrived from Poland, destined for refugees in Macedonia.
In the yesterday’s press conference in Red cross of Macedonia, Bill Harper, representative of International federation of Red cross and Red half-moon, said that as a result of appeal that International federation of Red cross made to national organizations, 150 millions of Switzerland francs has been collected for four Balkans regions. About 35-40 millions will be given to Macedonia.
In Kicevo, in last two days was finished vaccination of refugee children. About 200 children have been vaccinated. Vaccination of children in Struga is going on.
