SECURITY SITUATION
According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, NATO’s spokesman in Macedonia, Major Trate Kate, in yesterday’s press conference said that increased number of NATO soldiers in Macedonia for additional 14.000 soldiers doesn’t mean change of mandate of their mission.
NUMBER OF REFUGEES
According to the Ministry of Interior (MVR), in the last 24 hours, 333 refugees entered Macedonia. Also 62 illegal entries were registered. The total number of refugees in Macedonia now is 273.385, while 145.382 of them have the status of humanitarian cared people. 97.903 refugees have been settled in camps, most of them in camp Cegrane - 41.647, then came Stenkovec 1 and 2 with 32.928 refugees, Senokos - 7.087, Neprosteno - 7.245, Bojane - 2.242 and Radusa has 2.515 refugees.
Yesterday, 646 refugees were transferred to third countries using airlift. Up to now, 76.367 refugees left Macedonia using airlift.
CAMPS
According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, major McAlister from the 4th Britain brigade on May 27, risked his life and entered in a refugee tent in Stenkovec, which was burning and saved 22 women and children, while they were sleeping.
According to the daily newspaper Dnevnik, among refugees settled in camps still has not been isolated bacteria which could cause epidemics of contagious diseases, at least no cholera bacteria has been found. The situation with vaccines until now is good, but if new influx of refugees came, than it could became scarcity of vaccines.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, in Ministry of construction and urbanism say that in Gostivar village Vrapchiste, starting by the middle of the next week, will began building of new refugee camp with capacity for about 20.000 people.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, in camp Cegrane, where about 5.000 children have been settled, these days was opened first improvised school. Big problem in this camp is water - drinkable and for personal hygiene. Refugees pay 5 deutsche marks to villagers of Cegrane for one bath.
According to the daily newspaper Flaka, heat is a big problem for refugees settled in camps. In camp Stenkovec you can always see lines of people waiting for water and food. In the "stores" nearby the camp refugees can bye different groceries and other products.
SUPPORT
According to the daily newspaper Makedonija Denes, in the organization "Serbian community in Macedonia" about 250 Serbian families from Kosovo has been registered. The organization "Shelter now international" is saying that every day they distribute humanitarian aid for 201 Serbian families, which fled Kosovo. This organization also is helping about 6.000 Albanian refugees settled in Tetovo.
According to the daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, in order to prevent epidemic diseases, which can appear because of high temperatures, starting from today, medical staffs in refugee camps will have more members. In the team, except epidemiologists and doctors for first health protection, also infectologists will be included.
According to the daily newspaper Fakti, American humanitarian organization "International professional link" up to now helped about 4.000 refugee families from Kosovo.
